Books Books Books!

Reading has been a lifesaver for me. I was a military brat and a child of divorce, so I could be anywhere I wanted to be when I sat down to read.  It provided me endless hours of pleasure when I was moved to a new place, or when I visited the ‘other side’ of the family and didn’t know any of the kids around to play with.  My favorite, in childhood was Fairy Tales.  In my imagination, I could slay dragons, be a beautiful princess, or a fairy Queen.  I could be anything, and that love of reading and huge imagination helped me when I went to college, finished that and went into

Books post-grad, had children and worked through the challenges of this life.  Even now, I happily sit down with a book at night and two cats on my lap, imagining  myself as the heroin in paranormal romances (grown up fairy tales), mysteries, Christian fiction, and nonfiction self help books. Whether you are into the feel of the book itself, taking in the pages, or you are into the downloads or audiobooks, I have them all here in the largest library – and always at the Best Price.

Reading Is Fundamental

Reading is fundamental in developing a good self-image. Nonreaders or poor readers often have low opinions of themselves and their abilities. Many times they feel as if the world is against them. They feel isolated and behavior problems can surface.  Juvenile Halls have a 30% rate of children who cannot read and have become so frustrated with sitting in a chair in school seven hours a day, having teachers call on them, and not being able to answer a simple question because the book doesn’t makes sense to them.  They perform poorly in other subjects because they cannot read and comprehend the material and so tend to “give up.”

Reading Is Important

Finally, why is reading important? Reading is important because words – spoken and written – are the building blocks of life. You are, right now, the result of words that you have heard or read AND believed about yourself. What you become in the future will depend on the words you believe about yourself now. People, families, relationships, and even nations are built from words. Think about it.

According to Jonathan Kozol in “Illiterate America,” quoted in “The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read,’” the three main reasons people give for wanting to read are:

books1. To read the Bible,
2. To read books and newspapers, and
3. To help their children.

I think everyone can conclude that reading is a vital skill! Reading Strategies are also a part of learning to read.

If you like a topic, or a Movie Series, you should dive into the books.  Books allow for so much more of the Story, the plots, the characters.  If you love it on the big screen, you’ll more than love and get more into it when you read.

booksbooksaudioDo you travel, drive or fly a lot, then you should read. However, at times AUDIO BOOKS are a great addition to your personal growth.  An audio book allows you to take in a book and block out the people around you.  Audio books are also great for exercising on your standing bicycle.  There is always a way to get a good book in… and you deserve it!books
